A New Owner at a Busy Baroda Corner

CJ’s Quick Mart in Baroda officially has a new owner. Aimee Piehl excitedly declares her takeover of the business, and her enthusiasm is abundant. Approached by longtime friends about purchasing the business this summer, she began working there full time, and after five months, the beer and wine license has finally been transferred into her name.

“I never really thought about owning a store,” Aimee says, “but I worked at the Marathon in St. Joe after high school, and I’ve always said it was my favorite job.”  After being let go from her job due to the pandemic, friends Rick and Lou Ann Moore asked if she would be interested in buying the store, and she replied with a resounding “YES, YES, YES!” Aimee is a proud Southwest Michigan local, and a graduate of Coloma High School. She loves being busy, and is a focused, on-the-go woman who loves the chance to meet new people.

The convenience store and deli sits on the corner of Lemon Creek road and Stevensville-Baroda road, and offers beer, wine, lotto, groceries, and more. The deli is also one to frequent, with every day breakfast sandwiches, pizza, and daily specials. Taco Tuesday, Burger Thursday, and other fun food days will have you coming back again and again. Aimee plans to add her own spin on the quick mart offerings and products, but will generally keep things the same for the time being.  “It has been crazy getting everything settled, but we’re getting there!”, she says. Here’s to a successful first winter, Aimee!
