Applications are now being accepted for the Heart of Cook grant program, which supports nonprofits across Southwest Michigan and Northwest Indiana.

The Berrien Community Foundation administers the program, which is funded by the Cook Nuclear Power Plant. The grants focus on projects related to environmental protection, human services, and education.

The BCF says a committee made up of Cook employees will evaluate submissions, with added consideration given to projects that involve employees of Indiana Michigan Power.

Applications must be submitted through the Berrien Community Foundation’s website by June 9, and grant recipients are expected to be notified in late July or early August. A recognition reception will be held in September.

Interested nonprofits can learn more about the Heart of Cook at the Berrien Community Foundation’s website.
