Benton Harbor Salvation Army leader moving on

The Benton Harbor Salvation Army appears to be preparing for a leadership transition as its current leader has announced plans to move on.

In a message shared on social media, Corps Officer Mario Bledsoe said he and his family will be leaving at the end of June after four years serving the Benton Harbor area. Bledsoe wrote that they have been appointed to lead The Salvation Army in Lansing.

In his statement, Bledsoe described the past four years as “beautiful, challenging, and rewarding,” and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve communities across West Berrien and Van Buren counties. He added that Benton Harbor will “always hold a special place” for his family.

The Benton Harbor Salvation Army still lists Lts. Mario and Melissa Bledsoe as their current leaders, and no successor has been publicly announced.

Bledsoe’s full statement:

“After four beautiful, challenging, and rewarding years, my family and I will be moving at the end of June. We have been appointed to lead The Salvation Army in Lansing, MI!

“We are grateful for the privilege of serving the communities of West Berrien and Van Buren counties and we leave confident that the plans ahead will honor God and be beneficial to all who are served.

“Benton Harbor will always hold a special place in our hearts. We look forward to what God will do in this new season of our lives.”
