BH Benefit for Businessman’s Battle With Cancer

He may very well have been the guy who walked you through all of the details on your new iPhone, or helped you transfer files from an old smartphone to a new one. He was the guy who perpetually took good care of his customers at the Benton Harbor AT&T Stores, and fought to get the best deals and the best service every time. Now, sadly, he is in the fight of his life, and he could use your help in return.

Scott Masso worked at a variety of stores over the years and always focused squarely on his customers. Since last August, however, Scott has been forced to focus on fighting to survive the ravages of cancer. It was August of 2016 when Scott was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer, but it didn’t stop there. Scott’s cancer has progressed outside of his lungs, metastasizing to his clavicles, pelvic region and even wrapped around his spinal cord turning him into a wheelchair-bound paraplegic.

Despite all of that, Scott is a warrior and has been fighting like a warrior along the way, but nobody should ever have to fight alone. Friends have lined up a Benefit Dinner for Scott Masso event this Friday night, June 30th from 7 to 10pm at Hidden Pointe, located at 1062 Nickerson Avenue in Benton Harbor. Serving up an Italian Buffet with pastas and sauces, salad, bread, a dessert bar, punch, coffee and a cash bar, the event will focus on helping Scott battle back.

There will be raffles and 50/50 drawings, and the chance to bid on many great donations from fellow business owners and operators in a live auction setting, as well as a live DJ Michael & Tammy Wells. Friends, neighbors, customers and others who know Scott are encouraged to join the night and help take some of the burden off of Scott’s shoulders and those of his family members.

Scott hasn’t had a paycheck in nearly 4 months and is struggling to survive day to day living until disability payments are authorized.

Scott’s fiancee, Lisa Capozio, is inviting everybody to join the fundraising campaign to benefit Scott, who has been in and out of hospitals and treatment centers making it impossible for him to work for several months, increasing the financial strain.

Organizers are asking you consideration of a donation suggestion of $5 per adult and $3 for children 5 and under at the event on Friday night. Additionally, if fellow businesses would like to donate items for the auction there’s still time by contacting Lisa at 269-235-1964. She will even pick items up from generous donors to speed the process.
