You can count Ken Kaminski among those who are grateful for voter approval back in August of the special millage to continue to maintain Southwest Michigan Regional Airport. Kaminski has based his business, Flying Colors Aviation, there for nearly twenty years, and the business continues to grow with seemingly every passing year. He's expanding his corporate footprint on the airfield right now, with a new 1,200 square foot addition which will be used for office space.
By freeing up more space inside the hangar he built in 2007, Kaminski and his prolific crew can continue to service a broad array of aircraft owners seeking first-class, top-quality paint jobs for their planes and helicopters for use worldwide. The new addition underway will bring Flying Colors Aviation up to 17,000 square feet under roof at the airport along Territorial Road in Benton Charter Township.
Kaminski now has 11 full time employees and one part timer working in the hangar he built in 2007 when it was just him and one other employee handling the load. Ken says they currently service general aviation aircraft including not only corporate and private airplanes, but also home-built aircraft, helicopters, Warbirds, and even small jets and turbo prop markets.
Clientele from all walks of life rely on Flying Colors Aviation for their unique expertise and top-quality work in both refinishing and custom painting of aircraft. His facility on the local air field is capable of handling aircraft with wingspans of up to 60-feet. Thanks to their combined talents and the spray booth equipment capabilities, Flying Colors can also handle the repainting of boats, trucks, cars, trailers and anything else that a standard-sized paint shop might not be able to handle.
