Karma Vista Winery Boss Named President of Wine Trail

There’s a new boss at the helm for the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail and he is the award-winning winemaker, Joe Herman, owner and operator of Karma Vista Vineyards & Winery in Coloma. There’s also a new Secretary in the form of Michael Moyer from Lake Michigan College.

The Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail made the announcement this morning following the election of officers to two-year terms.  Unanimous votes for Joe Herman as President and Michael Moyer for Secretary were submitted during the recent annual meeting.  Joe had previously served as Treasurer from 2002 to 2018. Michael is the Director of the of the Wine and Viticulture program at Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor.

Kathy Sturm, Executive Director of the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail, says, “We are pleased to have such a program located here in Southwest Michigan, where students receive a fully rounded education on all aspects of the wine industry.”She adds, “In addition, Joe brings much insight about the wine industry of our region.”

Gunnar Olson, fills out the officers positions as Treasurer. He is the owner of Baroda Founders Wine Cellar located in downtown Baroda.  Olson will continue to serve in the role of Treasurer for one more year on his term.

Sturm says, “We congratulate and thank them for their dedication and service to the success of the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trial and the Michigan wine industry.” She also says, “We thank outgoing President, Tony Peterson of Contessa Wine Cellars in Coloma for his dedication all these years and to Scott Soethe of Lemon Creek Winery serving the last four years as Secretary.  Their dedication and service to the association and the wine industry is truly appreciated.”

The Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail, established in 2002, is a not-for-profit organization that promotes the development of the outstanding wine producing and tourism industry in Michigan’s Great Southwest. Its mission is to stimulate interest in wine in general and specifically the wines of the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail, and to assist local wineries in becoming industry leaders.
