MDOT Slates Main Street Benton Harbor Resurface Job to Start Memorial Day

If you routinely travel through downtown Benton Harbor on the I-94 Business Loop, which is also known as Main Street, crews at the Michigan Department of Transportation are issuing a heads up note that they will begin resurfacing a portion of that roadway beginning next Monday which will lead to single lane closures at times.

MDOT tells us that the resurfacing project is slated to begin on Memorial Day Monday, May 25th and will continue for a month with an estimated conclusion on Friday, June 26th if all goes according to plan.

The plan is to resurface almost 2 miles of the I-94 Business Route from the St. Joseph River to Fair Avenue in Benton Harbor. Construction includes crack filling, joint repairs and new pavement markings along that entire route.

MDOT says the new road surface is designed to extend the life of the roadway and improve safety and ride quality for travelers.

The only traffic restrictions during the construction process will come in the form of single-lane closures according to the contractors.
