Multiple Arrests for Meth at a Red Arrow Highway Motel

Imagine trying to get a good night’s sleep when the rooms down the way are hosting a sizable meth party. Van Buren County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested six people and are investigating a seventh in connection to a bust made Thursday night at the Red Arrow Motel in Paw Paw.

Sheriff Daniel Abbott reports that the Narcotics Unit of his department and the Michigan Department of Corrections conducted an investigation into illegal narcotics activities taking place at the Red Arrow Motel in Paw Paw Township.

He tells us Narcotics Detectives, Deputies, and Agents from Michigan Department of Corrections went to the Motel in the 38 thousand block of Red Arrow when a search of the rooms was conducted.

All seven of the people involved in the case are on parole with the Michigan Department of Corrections.  In the first room three men and a woman on parole were caught in the act of smoking methamphetamine, and detectives and agents quickly detained all them, launching their investigation into the narcotics activity. After that investigation was complete they were all found in violation of the conditions of their parole and the woman was released pending the investigation into the case.

Detectives and Agents searched another room inside of the motel and located meth inside of the bathroom and around the room. The parolee that had that room told police he had been smoking meth inside of his room and was lodged at the Van Buren County Jail for a parole violation. He will have meth charges pending once the investigation is complete.

Five Paw Paw men ranging in age from 19 to 39 were arrested on charges of drug related activity inside of the motel along with a 36 year old Paw Paw woman, and a 38 year old Paw Paw woman is under investigation.

Abbott says once the drug investigation is complete by the Van Buren County Narcotics unit charges will be filed with the Van Buren County Prosecutor.
