Michele Binkley, Michael Sarola, and Brook Thomas have been elected to the St. Joseph City Commission. The three were chosen by voters on Tuesday from a field of six. Binkley was the lone incumbent in the race. Edged out were Thomas Jennings, Ben Rimes, and Marc Williams. Sarola and Binkley will serve four year terms, while Thomas will serve a two year term. The three will join Commissioners Laura Goos and Lynn Todman on the city commission. Results on Tuesday were close, with only four votes separating Brook Thomas and Michelle Binkley, for example. Meanwhile in Benton Harbor Tuesday, Duane Seats and Ron Singleton were re-elected to the city commission. They beat Ambie Bell and CF Jones for at-large seats. Incumbent Ruthie Haralson lost to Ethel Clark-Griffin in Ward 4. Tuesday’s results are still unofficial.
