The Center for Growth and Independence in Benton Harbor is looking for teams and sponsors for this year’s Softball Fundraiser.
The center’s Tami Gould tells us the event is a very informal, fun-driven game open to players of all skill levels, even if they have no skill at all.
Players and spectators are invited to bring along cash to bribe the umpires to score runs, give the opposing a team a disadvantage, or just mess around.
The game supports the activities of the Center for Growth and Independence, which Gould says has been around since 1972 helping find employment for the disabled in Southwest Michigan.
“We help them to either work independently or live independently in their communities. So it’s a big impact to our Southwest Michigan area.”
Gould says the center finds jobs that fit each person’s strengths, and just as importantly, helps them maintain that job. It also provides respite care to families.
The 39th Annual Softball Fundraiser will be held on July 25 at Eaton Park in Benton Harbor. Teams that sign up must have at least ten members. You can learn more right here.
