Van Buren Leader Cited “Best” by Peers

It's always an amazing feeling when your community feels that you're doing a great job on their behalf, but when the very association that represents you and all of your colleagues in the industry echo that message, it's a special day indeed. Such is the case for Van Buren Conservation District Treasurer Carl Druskovich.

Dr. Druskovich was recently presented with the honor of 2016 Director of the Year Award from the Michigan Association of Conservation Districts during their annual convention in Bellaire. He was cited for his outstanding support, advocacy and leadership in natural resources conservation at the local level.

The Director of the Year is named annually by the Michigan Association of Conservation Districts (MACD) to recognize the outstanding contributions of a Conservation District director; one who has provided strong leadership, advocacy and promotion of conservation practices within the community.

Lori Phalen is Executive Director of the state association. She says, “MACD is pleased to honor Carl Druskovich with the 2016 Director of the Year Award.” She adds, “Carl is an amazing director, going above and beyond to support the Van Buren Conservation District, its staff and programs. He is a true conservation advocate, promoting the District’s programs and implementing the conservation practices he promotes on his own farm, including no-till farming practices, aerial seeding of cover crops, and working toward verification in the Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program (MAEAP)." She concludes, "Carl is a true leader, conservation steward and an integral part of Michigan’s conservation community and we are pleased to honor him with this award.”
