Van Operator Killed On 1-94 Identified

Troopers at the Michigan State Police Paw Paw Post have identified the drivers involved in the fatal crash that occurred Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at approximately 9:00am on eastbound I-94 near mile marker 62 in Paw Paw. The crash involved two commercial vehicles including a westbound van from Grand Rapids-based Andy J. Egan mechanical contractors, and a semi driven out of Pottsville, Pennsylvania for All Points Transportation and Evans Delivery Service.

The Egan van crossed the median and struck the All Points semi head-on in the eastbound lanes. The driver of the van was pronounced dead at the scene and has been identified as 38 year old Ryan Cramer of Mattawan. The driver of the semi was transported to Lakeview Hospital in Paw Paw for treatment and has been identified as 32 year old Gregory Jenkins of Chicago, Illinois. The cause of the crash remains under investigation

Andy J. Egan is a 100-year old mechanical contracting firm headquartered in Grand Rapids which opened a unit for plumbing, heating, air-conditioning, refrigeration and controls on Plaza Drive in Benton Harbor this past spring. They also have operations in Kalamazoo.

Emergency responders were forced to shut down the interstate headed eastbound for several hours to deal with the accident scene. Accident reconstruction teams are working to determine what caused the fatal incident as it remains under investigation.
