$3M Expansion for Impact Label Corp.

Success breeds success and there's certainly been a solid measure of success over the past two years from Impact Label Corporation of Kalamazoo. Such much so that the company has relocated to a larger space with room for growth in Galesburg. The more than 50-year old company is continuing a more than $3-million investment made in order to meet existing customer demand and help fuel growth into the future.

Impact Label has moved to a new larger facility at 8875 Krum Avenue in Galesburg, expanding their footprint by at least 40-percent over their old space on Burdick in Kalamazoo. Impact Label is a leading provider of product identification products to companies in a wide range of industries around the world, including outdoor recreation, medical, and automotive.

Susan Fogleson is President of Impact Label and she says, "Our customers were the initial catalyst for our expansion of services and capabilities over the last few years. Our new Galesburg facility will allow us to accommodate that growth and more." Fogelson points to the nearly 40-percent larger space saying it will be significantly more efficient and adds, "The new site will not only allow for better workflow for our current volume and processes, but allow for us to expand the building to more than double the current size to meet future needs."

Impact Label’s long-term commitment to lean manufacturing is a key factor in its growth and the new facility was designed from the ground up with lean manufacturing in mind.

Fogleson tell us that, “Based on the Toyota Production System model, our lean manufacturing culture focuses on four main philosophies: Customer First, Day-by-Day Continuous Improvement, Shop Floor Focus, and People Are Our Most Important Resource.” She concludes, “Our customers see the results of this culture in improved quality, reduced waste, and much shorter lead times.”

The new 32,500 square foot facility features a modern design that emphasizes natural light using floor-to-ceiling windows in the main office space and an open floor plan in the manufacturing space to allow for flexibility in changing workflow to meet customer needs.

The new space also makes room for new staff.  Impact Label is currently hiring for several positions in sales, operations, and the art department. Interested job-seekers can visit www.impactlabel.com/about/jobs for more information.

To celebrate the relocation, Impact Label will host an open house on Friday,  October 21, from noon to 4pm. That event will include opening remarks and a ribbon cutting at 12:30pm. Company leaders will provide guided tours of the new facility throughout the event (close-toed shoes required, if you plan to go).

Fogleson says her team is excited to share the new facility with clients, partners, neighbors, and the community. If you plan to go, please RSVP by Tuesday, October 18th.

Impact Label’s new address is 8875 Krum Avenue in Galesburg, and the company’s phone numbers and email addresses remain the same.
