Best advice you ever got?
While I was taking the CPA exams, anytime I was struggling or if I didn’t pass a test, my dad always told me to keep going and keep my chin up. He always said, “This is one accomplishment that no one can ever take away from you.” Getting my CPA license was one accomplishment that I am very proud of and anytime I look at it I think about the advice my dad gave me.
Who inspires you most?
My husband and my family. My husband, Eric, has pushed me to be the best version of myself. I am lucky to have met him and have him in my life. My whole family has always been so supportive with one another whether it be going to sports games, dance recitals, volunteering opportunities, etc. I know that I could call anyone of them when needed and they will be there for me.
That one thing about you we’d be most surprised to learn.
How hard the CPA exam was and how much time it takes to study for all sections.
What do you love to do in your downtime?
In the summer go to the beach or pool, run with my dogs (Tom and Sig), spend time with my family.
What book are you reading now?
I just finished reading the whole Harry Potter series.
Volunteer activity you love the most.
Girls on the Run – annual 5k. I love watching all the little girls before the race (dancing, getting their crazy hair, and face paint) and how excited they are. I love seeing them cross the finish line and have a sense of accomplishment. It has also been so rewarding see all of them support one another. The program is more than just running a 5k, it is about women empowerment and teaching young girls to support each other. One year, a girl was walking to the finish line and all the girls that already finished went back and finished the race as one. It was amazing to see it.
What motivates you to give back to your community?
Spending the majority of my childhood in this community and the opportunities I have been given, it makes me want to give back. I also see the work my siblings have done and now having nieces and nephews in the community, I want to be able to make a difference in not only their future, but for everyone in the community. I think it is important to give where you can.
What Superpower would you most love to have? (for example, the ability to fly or to be invisible, or incredible strength, etc)
Time Travel…so I can go back in time and spend extra time with my loved ones and my dogs.
What would you like to leave behind as your legacy once you are gone?
How important it is to volunteer and give back to your community. I think volunteering not only benefits the community but the person as well. Every person has a different gift and so it is important to give back.
What does the honor of being named to the 40 Under 40 most mean to you?
It is such an honor to be recognized in this community as one of the 40 under 40 and to know that there are people in my life that have gone out of their way to nominate me. I have so many amazing role models in my life and they have given me the drive to work hard in my career and community.
