What else do you hope to accomplish by the age of 40?
Complete the tenure track at Western Michigan University and start a PhD program. The tenure process standards are intense and full of demands, which I am happy to meet. I am on year 4 of 6 in the process.

Best advice you ever got?
Always listen before responding. This applies to numerous situations and avoids conflict by fully understanding the situation and avoiding impulsive responses.
Who inspires you most?
Karen Schieman, an associate professor at Western Michigan University. Her professional background and positive attitude encourage others to excel. Working with Karen has encouraged me to accomplish goals and set new ones. With her assistance I have published articles and co-authored and received a Faculty Research and Creativity Activities Award.
That one thing about you we’d be most surprised to learn.
I enjoy reading textbooks associated with my courses.
What do you love to do in your downtime?
Cook, bake, and read. With my job in education, I rarely have the opportunity to read outside of textbooks and articles.

Serving on the executive board for the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing
What motivates you to give back to your community?
I strive to provide high-quality equitable patient care and teach the next generation of nurses to continue on this path.
