The 19 wineries and tasting rooms scattered across the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail will get a stronger focus from a refreshed new website side-by-side with a newly updated printed map showing where you can find each of them as you hit the trail for new adventures this summer.

Thanks to a recently awarded grant from the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the FDA, the organization is able to bring more awareness to the wine industry across Michigan’s Great Southwest and each of the member wineries and tasting rooms that are producing wines to please every palate.

After months of planning and the drive to bring a stronger focus on wine in the region, the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail brings a revitalized wine tasting experience to wine enthusiasts from beginners to the experienced.

The member wineries are dedicated to using only locally grown grapes of the Lake Michigan Shore American Viticulture Area (AVA) and the Fennville AVA, many of which are estate vineyards. These wines are among the best in the country and are becoming increasingly recognized on an international level.

The region contains 90-percent of Michigan’s vineyards, and the wines produced by the member wineries focus on quality while providing a full spectrum of taste from sweet to dry, from white to red, rose’, blends, sparkling and ice wines. The artisanry of the blended wines enhances the quality-focus of the region. The longer growing season in the Lake Michigan Shore AVA allows for more varietals than most other wine regions in the Midwest.

The Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail is made up of 19 wineries and tasting rooms in Southwest Michigan. It covers two Viticulture Areas, Fennville and Lake Michigan Shore. They begin at the Kalamazoo River in Saugatuck angling down to Kalamazoo at the railroad tracks and west to the Michigan/Indiana border. The wineries collaborate to bring fans the best wines, wine tasting experiences and quality focused award winning wines every day.

These are the wineries along the trail:

  • Cogdal Vineyards: Home of Little Man Winery
  • Fenn Valley Vineyards
