Tickets are now on sale for one of South Haven’s longtime summer traditions — the 29th annual Cottage Walk — giving visitors a chance to step inside some of the community’s most distinctive and historic homes and buildings.

The Saturday, June 27 event will feature self-guided tours of four unique properties, ranging from historic and architecturally inspired homes to a creatively repurposed former neighborhood school building. The afternoon concludes with tours of the historic Scott Club building itself, one of South Haven’s best-known landmarks.

Organizers say this year’s lineup was selected to offer something different at every stop.

Among the featured properties are a converted former schoolhouse, a home inspired by 19th-century Italianate villas, a uniquely designed modular residence and a newly constructed home showcasing modern design features. While the event is known as the “Cottage Walk,” many of the featured homes are the kind of large, iconic lakefront and historic residences that have long helped define South Haven’s character.

Participants can tour the homes at their own pace between noon and 5 p.m., with volunteers stationed at each location to share historical background and stories about the properties.

Tours of the Scott Club will take place from 3:30 to 5 p.m. The sandstone Queen Anne-style building, topped by its signature cupola, includes Austrian stained-glass windows and recently added elevator access that has improved barrier-free accessibility.

The Cottage Walk is co-sponsored by SHOUT for South Haven and the Scott Club, two nonprofit organizations deeply involved in community improvement, arts and cultural programming in South Haven.

Organizers say proceeds from the event help support beautification projects, public events and cultural programming throughout the community.

Tickets are $20 per person, with advance purchase encouraged because attendance is limited.

Tickets are available through June 26 during regular business hours at the South Haven Area Chamber of Commerce, 606 Phillips Street, and the South Haven Visitors Bureau, 546 Phoenix Street.

Tickets will also be available the morning of the Cottage Walk at the Farmers Market in Dyckman Park.
