Amtrak, MDOT suspend train service for some SWMI to Chicago routes

Several train routes from Michigan to Chicago are being suspended for several months as Amtrak and the Michigan Department of Transportation complete scheduled infrastructure improvement.

Starting July 31, Wolverine trains 350 and 353 – which run between Pontiac and Chicago and make stops in Dowagiac, Niles and New Buffalo – will only run Friday through Sunday.

Wolverine trains 351, 352, 354, and 355 will operate normally, while Blue Water Trains 364 and 365 will operate normally and also serve the Wolverine stations in southwest Michigan. Full service is expected to resume Oct. 5.

Updated schedule times are listed on Amtrak.com.
