The Michigan Black Summit is preparing for a celebration in February 2027 as organizers mark the Summit’s fifth year of empowering, educating, and uplifting communities across Michigan.

Organizers say the 2027 Summit is anticipated to be the largest and most impactful gathering of the series, with attendance expected to surpass 300 people from across the state.

While the Summit has continued to grow statewide, organizer Trenton Bowens emphasized that the Summit never left Benton Harbor “because Benton Harbor is home.”

“This Summit was born in Benton Harbor, built in Benton Harbor, and will continue to grow in Benton Harbor,” said Bowens, Founder and Chair of the Michigan Black Summit. “This city represents resilience, culture, leadership, and Black excellence. Year five is not just a celebration of longevity. It is a celebration of a movement that continues to grow stronger every year.”

The 2027 theme, “What’s Going On?”, will focus on critical conversations surrounding Black education, Black healthcare, Black economic development, leadership, voting rights, housing, and the future of Black communities throughout Michigan.

The Summit is expected to feature a lineup of nationally recognized speakers, elected officials, grassroots leaders, entertainers, educators, entrepreneurs, and advocates.  Announcements regarding keynote speakers, entertainment, and special guests will be released in the coming months.
