Former Red Hot & Rare Coming Down for Expansion Plans at Coach’s Bar & Grill

If you’ve ever headed to Coach’s Bar & Grill and been confronted by a jam-packed parking lot, or ordered take-out service online and had a tough time finding a slot while you run in for the grab-and-go, you’re going to love the news from Tim and Jeannine Van Liere today. Relief is on the way.

Monday morning, December 17th, passersby will see bulldozer crews from Hollerbach Excavating of Stevensville wielding the wrecking ball at the former Red Hot & Rare restaurant building next door to allow Coach’s to not only increase their parking capacity, but also to expand their take out business.

Jeannine says that Hollerbach’s team, which has already staged an earth-mover out front, is expected to make short order of the demolition and she expects the building to be completely gone by Wednesday, preparatory to the addition of newly expanded parking.

The Van Liere’s have been looking for ways to expand their take out business and relieve some of the parking crunch, and earlier this year acquired the vacant restaurant located at 4132 Red Arrow Highway. The old Red Hot & Rare was a long time staple in the 70’s and early 80’s before the business was closed down. A couple of other operators have been in and out of business at that location over the years, including Augustino’s and Yia-Yia’s Table, but nothing had the stamina of the roast beef attraction of Red Hot & Rare. Jeannine herself says she used to ride her bike as a teenager to enjoy the restaurant. The original building housed Cindy’s Restaurant, even before Red Hot & Rare.

There are about 20 parking slots that some folks use already around the former restaurant building when visiting Coach’s and the removal of the building should yield at least that many more, effectively doubling parking on that side of the property, but the acquisition is part of the Van Liere’s master plan for ongoing improvements at their popular restaurant and sports bar which could also introduce some fun and interesting new amenities in the future.

An immediate enhancement for Coach’s take out business, which has been ballooning alongside the popularity of the dine-in options there, comes with a new canopy on the west side of the building which will be erected to clearly delineate the take out zone for those ordering online.

Jeannine says that the new canopy over the west side service entrance to the restaurant will also bring with it three dedicated parking slots exclusively for take out customers at Coach’s. The canopy entrance will be monitored by a camera system such that you won’t even have to get out of your car when picking up orders placed online. You will be able to simply drive up, pull into a designated slot and your take out order will be delivered right to your vehicle by staff members at Coach’s.

Coach’s business has grown exponentially in recent years as they sponsor dozens of events, parties and other fun like their current 12 Beers of Christmas line-up in partnership with WIRX Radio, Thirsty Thursdays with 97.5 Y-Country Radio, and an array of Give Back events that benefit non-profit organizations, schools and others in the community of Michigan’s Great Southwest.

Coach’s Bar & Grill offers casual dining in an upscale atmosphere side-by-side with the hottest sports bar in the region. High definition screens keep sports action going whenever the restaurant is open for business, making it a fan favorite across the board.

Their on-site smoke house produces some of the finest meats available for dine in and take out options, and the menu is peppered with popular offerings that keep the crowd coming day after day, filling up the parking lot, creating more demand for space.
