Overlooking one of the oldest harbors in Michigan, inside the Inn at Harbor Shores, Plank’s Tavern on the Water has something for everyone’s palate. Open seven days a week, year round, Plank’s offers delectable dining, entertainment and events, and that perfect ambiance we all crave. Whether you are popping in for a cocktail, enjoying fantastic brunch with friends, or bringing the whole family to dinner, every season is Plank’s season.

“We have the best waterfront patio in the area!” says General Manager, Brady Cohen. “You can dine outside, enjoy drinks in our Adirondacks, or enjoy the laid-back vibe of our Dockside Bar. You don’t have to come in your best attire, we are flip-flop approved.”

The creatively curated fare is fresh, made to order, and never frozen. Led by Chef Elton Man, the kitchen staff is meticulous and thorough, presenting modern cuisine that serves as an experience. “Our dining is approachable and accessible to everyone,” says ElizaBeth Hacker, Director of Sales. “Our locals are what keeps us going the whole year– we don’t have an ‘off season’ at Plank’s!”

Brunch at Plank’s Tavern is available seven days a week, from 7 a.m to 3 p.m, and the large selection of breakfast items seems never-ending: with four different eggs benedict dishes (including the NEW Eggs Benedict Trio), plump berry compote-covered Belgian waffles, perfectly poached eggs atop cajun shrimp + grits, a crisp and classic wedge salad, an herb-y lobster roll accompanied by malt vinegar fries, and so much more, you’ll want to stay and dine all day long.

“You can really taste the difference here at Plank’s,” says ElizaBeth. “The Eggs Benedict Trio is one of my favorite dishes, and our homemade hollandaise is to die for!” Couple a Mimosa Tower with your tables’ entrees, or try a bloody mary, bellini, or espresso martini with such an array of mouthwatering meals.

Every day is a good day for brunch!

Life’s short– go Dockside!

You can nearly touch the water from the Dockside Bar, and at 3 p.m Monday through Thursday, and 11 a.m Friday through Sunday, bar eats, drink specials, and live music will keep you floating through the summer.

Choose from a separate full menu of dining options: refreshing salads and mouth-watering burgers, appetizers like smoked chicken nachos, Old Harbor Wings, the ever-popular Big Ass Pretzel with seasonal dipping sauces, kids menu, and hand tossed pizzas, there is something for everyone. Delight in cold beer on draught or by the can, perfectly blended frozen drinks, their new slushie machine, and Dockside Signature cocktails– every day feels like a vacation when you go Dockside.

The Dockside Bar is open while Plank’s Tavern closes for the one-hour switch over from Brunch to Dinner. Through Labor Day, weekends at the Dockside Bar will feature acoustic tunes (Jimmy Buffet style), Friday & Saturday from 5:30 p.m – 8:30 p.m, and Sunday from 4 p.m – 7 p.m. The Riverside Tent also welcomes back Harbor Shores Live, every Wednesday night beginning June 21st – August 30th. From 6 p.m – 9 p.m, enjoy free live music, with food and beverages available for purchase. Follow the event on Facebook to find out when your favorite artists will be performing!

The Plank’s Experience

Built with cottage-charm in mind, bits and pieces of Southwest Michigan History are celebrated at the Inn at Harbor Shores: the ceiling of Plank’s is made of Michigan White Pine, milled locally in Coloma, and the restaurant itself honors ‘Plank’s Tavern on the Beach’, an 1888 resort near Tiscornia Park that exists now only in stories told. The covered porches, balconies, and patios of the Inn are frequently filled with onlookers who choose to watch the harbor traffic from a cozy spot, and hungry locals and vacationers delight and imbibe nightly.

Plank’s Tavern on the Water is indulgent but affordable, delicious, and welcoming. The wine list is superb, with by-the-glass or bottle selections from France, Spain, Italy, Argentina, and California, and many beers on draught, and liquors used in their signature cocktails, proudly represent the breweries and distilleries of Michigan. “Everyone will find something they love at Plank’s,” Brady says.

“We have so much variety,” ElizaBeth says. “Our chef takes his job very seriously. The wagyu beef burger with truffle fries is just amazing; it is an experience all on its own!” The very intriguing Bread + Edible Candle Service highlights an herb and garlic infused duck fat or butter candle that melts ever so slowly, and is served with artisanal bread for dipping (or slathering).

Your meal at Plank’s is prepared like a work of art. Some of the most popular dishes, like Syrian Chicken Skewers with harissa roasted cauliflower + pomegranate molasses, and the Norwegian Sea Trout with brussels sprouts & pancetta reads like a poem. You’ll also find oysters, crab cakes, and mussels on the menu, a soup du jour, and fresh salads, too.

The atmosphere is elevated with live music in the lobby, featuring local musicians that love coming back to Plank’s again and again. Mondays offer piano, Thursdays: jazz, and Fridays: cello. Though Plank’s is definitely a special place, it doesn’t need to be a special occasion to enjoy it. Plank’s Tavern is open to any and everyone– whether you’re coming straight from work, off the boat, or meeting up with friends, Plank’s Tavern on the Water is waiting for you.
